Father's Day is a wonderful time to honor your father or someone who may be like a father figure to you. It is a chance once a year where you can take some extra time and say thank you. You don't have to buy a fancy gadget or spend hundreds of dollars to show your love and appreciation.

The following are inexpensive Father's Day gift ideas:

1. Offer to clean your father's car, no matter what age your dad is I am sure he would appreciate it.

2. Make a certificate/coupon for your dad to turn in for a home cooked meal.

3. Take some extra time and tidy up his house or the lawn; this allows your dad to relax a little longer.

4. I know this may sound cheesy but a framed poem or saying (that you can write or find) that expresses your appreciation.

5. If you have children, send a picture! Grandparents love pictures!

6. Bake a special dessert that he likes and put it in a keepsake tin.

7. Invite him over for a Sunday brunch and have his favorite reading material at the table.

8. Put together a small basket with ingredients and even utensils for his favorite meal. For example a pasta dinner; place sauce, pasta, grated cheese, nice bread, new apron and or a wooden spoon in a colorful gift bag or basket.

9. Is your dad a candy fan? Put together a little gift bag with some of his favorite treats; this works well for favorite snacks as well.

10. How about a bottle of favorite wine or other beverage?

11. A magazine subscription, a gift that keeps giving all year!

12. Does your father enjoy movies or reading? If so a new book or DVD would be perfect.

13. Take your dad to a local sports venue, they are usually less expensive than a pro sport but can be just as much fun!

14. Burn your dad a cd with his favorite tunes to listen to.

15. Are you a painter? Do you draw? If so share your art work, put a piece of your artwork in a frame for your dad to enjoy.

16. Does your father golf? If so buy a golf game at his favorite place to golf.

17. Make a collage of pictures of you and your father.

18. If your dad is a card player, how about a new cribbage board? A deck of cards?

19. If your dad is a puzzle lover, how about a new puzzle?

20. Crossword books or Sudoku books are great for those puzzle fans.
